festivus-poleInternet Ads
Ads that don’t load right away, and move the content away from what you started to read when the full page finally does load.

Ads that take up over 70% of the web page. Ads before the main content. Ads on both sides of the content.
Ads in the middle of the content, and ads below the content. The page is mainly ads. Ads that you eventually clicked because you were just trying to scroll the page or were forced the hit “next” to continue to see the content for which you came, but an ad popped up right where you tapped instead.

Web pages featuring stories that do not exist

Instead, you are taken to a webpage with a picture of the main story and the rest are all ads. You search for a link to go to the actual story only to realize there is none.

Stories where the complete title is…

Web pages that make you click next an endless amount of times to get through the content. I know they are trying for SEO ranking (internal page clicks) but it is the same story. Google should penalize those bastards.

Fake news pages with the words “Breaking” “Epic Takedown” “Brutal” “Slapdown” “Shocking” None of these adjectives describe the actual content which should be labeled “underwhelming.”

The articles are either fake or are from news sites with no creditability.

Political talk shows of all denominations, I ain’t prejudiced.

Politics – just politics in general. Makes me want to run for an office to show them how it’s done.

Simon BolivarThe LiberatorWhat I found interesting while watching the film “Libertador” (The Liberator) starring Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez, was that after all that Simon Bolivar and the men he worked with to achieve freedom from Spain, was that he never achieved his true goal of the Gran Colombia.  Like the founding fathers of the United States, Bolivar came from the merchant class and was a  land owner.  His greatest challenges came, not on the battlefield, but were political.  His inability to set up a government that encompassess a whole continent, became illusive, and that my be because of a lack of structure that the United States worked out during the creation of the United States Constitution.  Below we examine bicameralism and how the founding fathers in North America crafted this system. religion

I am not willing to be ruled by a theocracy, whether it be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, or Satanic. Have we not seen what history has taught us about how this leads to corruption. As we also recall from history, the Mormons or Latter Day Saints went west and established themselves in the Utah territory. They wanted their own state, and of course, they wanted their own state religion. Unwilling to allow this new religious movement to have things their own way, the government sent in federal troops. History has taught us that, although a truly free country must have some sense of a founding set of principles, however, being free means that we must not allow our religious prejudices to overtake the common good of the secular government. Beware of fanatics of any kind.

Battlestar Galactica’s explicative Frak is spreading beyond geek speak.

I heard it again today, “Frak,” yes there it is again. On this Wednesday’s Criminal Minds, Penelope Garcia, the Behavioral Analysis Unit’s Technician. Yes, OK she is a nerd and she would know were the word came from, but still, “Frak” is taking off. This last Monday, on May 12, on The Big Bang Theory’s episode “The Plimpton Stimulation,” Howard, after being propositioned by Dr. Elizabeth Plimpton, a cosmological physicist from Princeton University, exclaims “What the Frak!” Last year on 30 Rock, Salma Hyack wore a “What The Frak” shirt and refers to it. It is my firm belief that the word Frak will become television’s favorite explicative within the next few years.

1977 was a big year for me.  Two great films came out that year. Roger Moore in A Spy Who Loved Me with that crazy Lotus Esprit that turned into a submarine. And, of course, Star Wars. With the Death Star, Tie Fighters and Y wings, and the iconic X Wing fighter. Now, most Star Wars aficionados know that John Dykstra was in charge of the special effects and w […]

Archeology is the search for facts, not truth, So, When looking at the historical King Arthur, we, unfortunately, must put aside all the romantic characters and imagery that we have been exposed to throughout our lives. We forget the tales of knights in shining armor and start from scratch with the story of Arthur.I am not even sure if there was a King Arth […]
